STREET LIGHT SECTION
ABOUT
The prime responsibility of the Light Section is installation, maintenance and supervision of the various type of Street Light that come under the purview of Ranchi Municipal Corporation. The intent is to set suitable benchmarks for materials, energy efficiency, systems and workmanship for lighting systems intended for use in areas that come under the jurisdiction of Ranchi Municipal.
Our Key Functions are:-
The Street light is maintained and co-ordinates all the activities through Ranchi Municipal Corporation Office. The functions of the department can be summarized as stated below:
(1) Providing street light on all the roads within RMC limits (which includes Principal main road, main road and other road).
(2) Installing of Mobile Tower cum High-Mast light on all the major traffic junctions.
(3) Replacement of existing conventional street light by energy efficient LED Street light so as to cut down on the O&M expenses on electricity.
(4) Minimizing the Failure rate of the streetlights and hence providing maximum uptime by carrying out regular maintenance works.
(5)Temporary electrification works during Chat Puja, Durga Puja, Rama Navami & other festivals.
Details about Street Lighting
About 27,943 (aprox) Street Light is installed under the purview of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, out of which 11,873 is LED light and rest Sodium vapor light will be replaced soon with LED by Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL).
Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has signed an agreement with Union Power Ministry Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to replace conventional streetlights with LED bulbs.
The power consumption of the existing street light is 4.42 MW, which is expected to come down to 1.93 MW when they are replaced by LED Light. The state will be saving Rs 32,00,000 per annum approximately.
Details about High Masts
With a view to provide sufficient and uniform light to the dense traffic junctions of the city, high mast towers having 12 to 30 mt. height and 250/400 Watts LED/Sodium/Metal Halide Fitting are erected and made functional at important traffic junctions. This High Masts not only provide sufficient light but also helps in the beautification of the city.
